Aquarius Engines Unveiled Lightweight Hydrogen Engine

Aquarius Engines has introduced a new hydrogen-powered engine that could change the future of clean energy. The engine weighs only 22 pounds (10 kilograms) and works completely on hydrogen fuel. The company says this small and simple engine could reduce the world’s use of fossil fuels and expensive hydrogen fuel cells.

In a press statement shared through PR Newswire, Aquarius Engines announced that their new single-piston linear engine has passed tests and is ready to move forward. This development is important because it could provide a cheaper and cleaner alternative for transportation and electricity production.

The engine is very different from traditional engines. Most engines have many moving parts and require oil and other fluids for maintenance. The Aquarius Hydrogen Engine, on the other hand, has only 20 parts and just one moving part.

Because of this simple design, the engine is much cheaper to make and easier to take care of. It does not even need lubrication, which helps lower its maintenance cost even more.

According to Aquarius Engines, their hydrogen engine uses a special internal gas exchange system. This method, along with its light design, helps reduce harmful emissions. The company believes that this could help lower the carbon footprint around the world. In other words, the engine could help reduce the pollution that causes climate change.

To prove that their engine works as promised, Aquarius teamed up with AVL-Schrick, a well-known engineering company in Austria. AVL-Schrick tested the engine and confirmed that it runs successfully on 100 percent hydrogen. This test shows that the technology is real and not just an idea on paper.

Gal Fridman, the chairman of Aquarius Engines, said that creating a working hydrogen engine has always been their dream. He explained that their goal was to develop an affordable, green, and reliable solution for energy and transportation.

According to Fridman, the new engine could offer a sustainable option for powering vehicles and producing electricity, especially in areas where other power sources are not available.

Even with this innovation, the debate between hydrogen and electric vehicles continues. Some countries, like Japan, are investing heavily in hydrogen energy as part of their plan to become more eco-friendly. However major companies like Tesla and Volkswagen still support electric vehicles.

Volkswagen’s CEO Herbert Diess said on social media that he does not believe in hydrogen-powered cars. Tesla’s CEO Elon Musk agreed, calling hydrogen a poor choice for storing energy in vehicles. He said that hydrogen is not worth considering, except maybe for rocket engines.

Despite this criticism, many companies are still exploring hydrogen technology. Aquarius Engines has already partnered with important automotive companies like TPR and Musashi Seimitsu, which is connected to Honda. These partnerships show that some parts of the industry still believe in hydrogen as a future energy source.

This new engine is not the first invention from Aquarius. The company first introduced a version of the 22-pound engine in 2014. That earlier engine did not run fully on hydrogen. It was used as a small power generator for vehicles or as a stationary electricity supply.

But now, with the updated design that runs only on hydrogen, the engine could become useful in many more ways. It could power small vehicles, supply electricity in remote areas, or work as a backup power source.

Aquarius Engines has not yet shared full technical details like horsepower or fuel efficiency. But the basic facts—such as its low weight, simple design, and zero emissions—are already attracting attention.

The company says it is working on making the engine ready for large-scale production. Once that happens, the engine could be used around the world. This type of hydrogen engine could be used in delivery trucks, small cars, drones, or even emergency equipment. Its small size and ability to run without much maintenance make it useful in many situations.
